Never one to open up to many new people or pets—at least, not quickly—Virgo is a quiet and gentle animal. These pets are content to keep mostly to themselves except for strong owner-cat relationships. Virgos are creatures of habit. They have a few places around the house or yard where they can usually be found, including, occasionally, the owner’s lap.
Virgos are always cleaning themselves and their surroundings. They don’t need very many toys to be happy, and the ones that they have will usually be kept in the same general location. Some Virgos are intelligent enough that this could be classed as putting away their own toys; others’ intelligence is marked by the fact that they just don’t ever move their stuff around.
These cats need a specific place that they can call “home.” Whether “home” is a complete cat bed or just a relatively undisturbed spot of house, it is where the Virgo will clean itself and keep the toys. When Virgos start to clean, that is a sign that they should not be interrupted. They will take hours to thoroughly lick every patch of fur several times over. It may not be that they do this every day, but they will certainly do it more than any of your other cats. As such, care should be taken to ensure that they have no trouble with hairballs. They cough up a lot of them.
Virgos are not really into the performance business. For them, order and manageability are cardinal virtues. Kittenhood seems to have been bred from them entirely, leaving your Virgo a pleasant and affable but quiet, reserved, and practical cat. That said, while you won’t ever be able to entertain visitors with your cute and clever Virgo, your cat’s inherent obedience and respect will certainly be impressive. Furthermore, Virgos are very intelligent cats. You won’t ever find them getting themselves into awkward situations (like getting stuck up a tree), as more impulsive or childish cats might. A Virgo is always very self-aware, and would feel quite put out if anyone attributed something less than responsible to its character.
The level of cleanliness and order that a Virgo likes to preserve can lead to disputes if there are other more investigative and less tidy pets in the house. Because of a Virgo’s intelligence, they simply assume that they are the chief pet, regardless the size or attitude of whatever else you own. Taurus and Capricorn, then, are likely to make for the easiest cat pairing. They will gently try to enforce their finickiness on everyone and will whine if their advice isn’t followed. Because they are quickly able to discern a schedule or pattern, they will do this same thing to you. If you are late with the food, rather than remind you by cuddling, a Virgo will meow complainingly. If you fail to dispose promptly of a hairball, the same reaction can be expected. Oftentimes, a Virgo’s cleanliness can be interpreted as excessive worry and fussiness; sometimes, the cat’s character will bear out that interpretation. If it’s just one of those days when things are falling apart, don’t expect your Virgo to do much more than complain and add to the mess.
Regardless of their sometimes over-analytical tendencies, Virgos make wonderful pets. When things are going the right way, your Virgo will be more than happy to let you know. It just might not do it from your lap.
