Sagittarius is the kitten that never grew up—but it grew away. That isn’t to say that your cat is a social outcast, but it definitely enjoys expanding its social circle more than the circle itself. If kept as a house cat, a Sagittarius is forever trying to escape into what it feels is its natural habitat; if kept as an outdoors cat, it will enjoy being occasionally permitted entry into the house, probably for meals, but had better be frequently checked up on. Sagittarius gets a little too friendly with the rest of the wildlife, sometimes. This is the cat that gets romantically overinvolved with other cats, overhunts the squirrels (and neighboring cats’ bowls of food), and is always stalking your bird feeder.

In spite of all this, Sagittarii are not malicious. They are quick to open up to new people and pets, and even return for more frequent socialization. While Leo and Aries are good matches, they never play favorites. They are too busy trying to meet as many creatures as they can. In some Sagittarii, this can be read as aloofness or indifference, especially among cats or people that need a tight bond. For more easygoing animals and owners, though, a Sagittarius is the perfect fit. It never demands more than it gives, is always gets out of your hair, and never reacts adversely to any attempts at closer friendship.

The wanderlust and energy of your Sagittarius often get it into trouble. These cats have probably double the normal complement of feline lives, and likely expend half of those within their first year of life. Sagittarii cannot be counted on to ever be particularly obedient, and they don’t ever maintain much of a schedule. They may not play favorites between those who show them equal attention, but they are often suckers for extra love and treats. They can be forgiving to a fault; they are generally intelligent enough to tell if someone has it in for them, be that person human or animal, but they do not always act on that until the last instant. They will often suffer at the hands of the same irritating person or animal several times before they learn.

With all of that said, your Sagittarius is a very open, friendly, and intelligent cat. Sagittarii can tolerate most people that you think they wouldn’t, such as three-year-old tail-pullers or ninety-year-old great-grandmothers who try to feed your cat bits of rancid liver. This can cause the occasional social dilemma; at times, you will find that your carefully-prepared party gets interrupted by your Sagittarius who you forgot was hiding under the coat rack. Your cat only means well when it pounces on your guests’ legs—even the ones that had a bad experience with a cat as a child.

This leads us to talk momentarily about your cat’s intelligence. It’s got a lot, but seems to lack common sense at times. Sagittarii are the cats that would have no difficulty escaping from a locked bathroom (as when you have over your friend who had the bad experience with a cat) but might somehow rationalize themselves into thinking that picking a fight with your lawn gnome may somehow be productive. In all its quirkiness, your Sagittarius will maintain cheerful, elevated spirits.
