Your cat is the one that all other cat owners envy. It climbs easily into just about anybody’s lap, befriends your German Shepherd, and tolerates it when your two-year-old pulls on its tail. Libras are tender animals with a great love for people in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes, you may even wonder whether your cat likes you less because of all the socializing that it gets up to.
Because of its gentle nature, be sure to keep your Libra as a house cat. Failing that, fixing your cat might be a good idea—female Libras seem to attract stray toms with a single flick of the tail, and male Libras, though not wandering with the intent to mate the first meow, may come back from their forays having ensured that some more little Libras will grow up all around the neighborhood. They just can’t say no when it comes to another pretty kitty.
Libras cooperate well with just about any other cat. Because they are neither tiresomely energetic nor painfully boring, they can adapt to almost any feline extreme. Gemini and Aquarius offer the best match. Libras are more likely to get along with a slower-paced cat than an energetic overgrown kitten, but surprisingly many Libras can cooperate with hissing, spitting, irritatingly aggressive cats that have driven all other pets (and owners) from the house. As always, the caution is to look out for their prolific reproductive habits.
Libras can sometimes develop a fickle sort of character when it comes to their schedule or play. Because they are so easy to persuade, they are slow to make decisions that will last. Often, they change at the last minute. If a Libra comes over for a bit of a cuddle in your lap, even the slightest shift in environment (turning on the TV, beginning a phone conversation, the smell of the roast in the slow cooker) can perk them up and send them on their meandering way. Even then, they may get distracted by anything from another valid environmental intrusion to a spot on your carpet. Your Libra may be intelligent, but it isn’t necessarily bright.
The subtly fickle aspects of a Libra’s personality come out when self-indulgence is permitted. Large amounts of toys, excessive pampering, and fine cat food all contribute to this problem. Any one of the above help the usually sociable Libra begin to feel itself a cut above the rest of the world. While this doesn’t often result in aloofness, it may; more often, actually, is the fact that your Libra will begin to expect the same treatment from all animals and pets that pass through its domain. The failure of your next-door-neighbor to bring your cat a slice of salmon in addition to the tomatoes she brought you from her garden could put your pet off your neighbor for a few days. Once you and your Libra start down that sort of path, the pair of you will possibly never turn back. It’s hard for a Libra to go back to food from a bag when it has tasted food fit for humans. Even so, it is still one of the friendliest cats by far.
